How to save money with Know-how and high quality products!

A report on the real lifetime of Lenzing Profilen® based filter media
Selecting the right filter medium for hot gas filtration is a difficult decision. That’s why it is worth asking the experienced specialists in this field and using a high quality product. Lenzing Profilen® PTFE staple fibers as well as weaving yarns and sewing threads have been used successfully in hot gas filtration for many years.
In cooperation with our customers, a lot of incineration plants of different types have been equipped over the years with bag filters made with our material. Today we would like to present you a plant using filter media based on 100% Lenzing Profilen®, manufactured into a needle felt by BWF Envirotec, finished and assembled by Junker Filter, that has been in use for more than 8 years and is still in perfect condition!
The purchase of high quality Lenzing Profilen® fibers & yarns, as well as choosing specialists for needle felt manufacturing (BWF Envirotec) and bag confection and assembling (Junker Filter) in this case helped plant operators in the long run to save money. In the waste pyrolysis plant in Burgau (operated by Landkreis Günzburg) waste is treated in two rotary furnaces at a temperature of 600°C. The smouldering gas produced is burned with added air in a combustor (at a temperature of around 1250°C) before it is cleaned in a flue gas treatment facility, which consists of a fabric filter, a dry sorbent injection, followed by a catalyser. Calcium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate and activated carbon can be used as a sorbent solution.
Technical data regarding flue gas treatment operating temperature: approx. 200°C – 230 °C Flow rate: max. 38.000 Nm³/h Raw gas dust load: < 5 g/Nm³ Air-to-cloth-ratio: 0,74 m/min Dust emission:: < 2 mg/Nm³ ( 9th operating year)
The plant design with an operating temperature of over 200°C made the use of PTFE filter media necessary. The expected agglomerating dust, as well as the moderate air to cloth ratio led to a surface treated filter media with PTFE coating. The average dust emission level in the early years was far above 1 mg/Nm³, and today is around 1,65 mg/Nm³. The filter system design means it is only necessary to clean a maximum 10 times per day, which also promotes a longer lifetime of the filter bag..jpg)
All tests done by the R&D department of BWF Envirotec demonstrate that the Lenzing Profilen® filter media performs solidly in accordance with all relevant parameters. Even after 8 years the end of the useful life of the bags is still not in sight, a fact that was also made possible by the professionalism and diligence of the operations staff of the Burgau plant.
