Yarn Production at Lenzing Plastics

Lenzing Plastics has long time experience in the extrusion of synthetic yarns made of monoaxially stretched thermoplastics. The yarns are made of a mixture between polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) which enables us to adopt the product characteristics to the desired application and the climatic region of the pitch destination.

We have the best quality of extrusion machinery and large arrays of winding locations that enable us to produce tailor made yarn constructions. We do not produce commodities that are offered the customer on a “take it, or leave it” basis, but we produce exactly to our customers’ specifications and are able to develop new yarns grades together.

Yarn Properties & Performance Characteristics

Due to our unique polymer blend we have the ability to adjust and control the final yarn properties according to individual requirements. By changing the proportions of the granulate mixture we manage to extrude a certain yarn dimension either in soft or stiff condition. This offers the opportunity to use the same yarn dimension for a comfortable recreational turf (soft version) as well as for a soccer turf with sufficient recovery effect (stiff version).
